XR clinics

by Ashley Cole | May 26, 2020 | in Spinal Conditions

Young patients with scoliosis often return to clinic to have an x-ray to see if their spinal deformity has got worse. They can often be in busy clinics for many hours. We are currently bringing these patients up to hospital for an x-ray and they then go home and have a planned telephone consultation with the spinal surgeon. This works well and means the x-ray clinics can be fully booked and the surgeon then has a telephone clinic of patients to phone. This reduces time spent in hospital and will make the waiting area quieter as some clinics are occurring by telephone.

What is needed to sustain the change?

Surgeons just need to decided whether the next clinic can be done in this new way or whether the patient should be seen face-to-face.

What is your region?

North East
