Reduced bureaucracy and consequent development of guidelines e.g. writing COVID-19 rapid guideline for rheumatological autoimmune, inflammatory and metabolic bone disorders published by NICE on 3rd April 2020

by Bridget Griffiths | May 22, 2020 | in Rheumatology

Recommendations to maintain core services including drug safety monitoring, day case unit infusions, departmental advice lines and prompt review (virtual or face to face) for patients with suspected inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue diseases and vasculitis whatever the prevalence of COVID-19.

Advice lines can also be used as a triaging mechanism to identify patients who need to be reviewed by the department thus reducing footfall in A&E and GP's surgeries.

What is needed to sustain the change?
