The mission for me in founding COGUK has been to reduce professional silos and collaborate to provide more community directed services..
Osteopathy is mostly outside NHS services and is highly rated by patients who end up with osteopathy care.
Osteopathy offers a highly adaptive approach to patient needs and although very much an evidence informed part of allied healthcare, the style of working diagnosis facilitates a flexible approach to individuals that allows changed to patient management and care to change according to outcomes and feedback at each consultation.
Avoiding making a fixed diagnosis as long as red flags are excluded makes for a safe and effective form of care.
COGUK had been seen as a community osteopathy group but that has evolved into a virtual MDT concept.
Much of this was planned before covid19.
The crisis has brought tougher many MDTs and it is hope that this maybe also a chance for the UKs 7000 osteopaths to contribute in novel ways to the health of the nation
