Telephone triage
We are have moved to 100% telephone triage and virtual assessments are coming on board. We have started working on clinical stratification on how we mitigate risk in these scenarios. this is vital as part of a safety net and governance framework. We are utilising the clinical skills of GPs who are comfortable with this model to advise clinical practice.
What is needed to sustain the change?
We need to assess the clinical assessment in terms of quality and accuracy in this model. We need to risk assess across the pathway to understand any potential gaps. There is a need to consider health and wellbeing of staff with this model, loss of team ethos and human connections around communication.

I agree that before we fully adopt longer term for all patients we need to look beyond now and see what patterns transpire over time for those patients that have had virtual/tel consultation only. I have found some conditions seem easier than others to manage virtually(in our clinic tel only)than others- but a wider review of this would be helpful -however suspected serious pathology's are being picked up on subjective history alone.
