Virtual Advice

by Nick Aresti | May 12, 2020 | in Planned and Elective Care

Increased use of online portals for GP's to access advice from consultants without a formal referral. Has led to improved patient care in a primary setting without the need for hospital review.

What is needed to sustain the change?

IT infrastructure to be developed

Commissioners to recognise the service

Allocation of man power

What is your region?

London

We've implemented a simple telephone access to T&O consultant for primary care , a more robust system would be good so calls and advice given could be easily logged and responses shared between care providers.

Hi Gareth, thanks for sharing! Do you share / log / write to patients to describe your discussion with their GP?

Online advice and guidance service is available through NHS portal and has been quite useful. We have been using in Leicester for more than an year now . It includes most specialities except spines.
